Name: Jessica
Job title: Senior Manager for Long-Term Accommodation
Years working with Dublin Simon Community: 9

I have been working with Dublin Simon since August 2013, originally joining the team as a Flexi Support worker.  Over the last nine years I have progressed to a number of different roles, from Project worker to Service Manager.  I am now the Senior Manager for Long-Term Accommodation.

Dublin Simon Community has given me amazing opportunities for progression and, while there have been many challenges, I still feel very lucky to be part of this team.

Name: Niamh
Job title: Service Manager, Supported Housing
Years working with Dublin Simon Community: 6

I joined Dublin Simon Community in 2016 and have been lucky to progress through several different roles.  I am currently the Service Manager in Oak House.

Oak House has 32 residents of all ages living in long-term supported accommodation.  The residents have all meals cooked onsite and have access to a Primary Care Health Nurse.  There are lots of activities to support their mental and physical health.

A normal day for me includes check-ins with the team, chatting with residents, providing supervision, dealing with incidents, working with staff members on resident support plans and a range of other tasks that arise from the type of work we are doing here.  No two days are ever the same!

Name: Edward
Job title: Night Support Worker with Treatment Services: Residential Recovery
Years working with Dublin Simon Community: 15

I joined as a volunteer with Dublin Simon Community in 2006, working in treatment services and continued as a full-time staff member. The role of night support worker suited me and since then there was no looking back.

Over the years, Dublin Simon has given me loads of opportunities to upskill, train and perform to my very best. Interacting with our clients and advocating on their behalf, it is rewarding to see them progress through the various stages of their recovery, as they try and find their place back in society.  This career that has given me immense satisfaction and it is fulfilling as well as rewarding. The added advantage is the supportive and encouraging team that keeps us going.
