Health Research Boards report on the number of deaths of those experiencing homelessness in Ireland
The Health Research Board has released a report on the number of deaths of people experiencing homelessness in Ireland in 2019. Dublin Simon Community CEO Catherine Kenny responds to the report:
“Nobody should die in homelessness, and Dublin Simon will continue to respond proactively to the needs of the vulnerable homeless population.
“For more than 50 years, we have woven life-saving safety nets in the form of wraparound services, designed to catch people before they fall. Our life-saving harm reduction interventions range from addiction treatment and detox to suicide prevention and counselling. We operate a residential recovery unit, offer short term acute medical care, and provide widespread Naloxone training to staff. These interventions are grounded in international best practice and research.
“Our hearts and minds are with the loved ones of the people behind the numbers published yesterday.”
Catherine Kenny, CEO of Dublin Simon Community
