Spring 2021 Rough Sleeping Count
We welcome the publication of the Spring 2021 Rough Sleeping count by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive, which shows a 10% reduction in rough sleeping from Winter 2020.
Our Outreach team has been working hard to get people into placements that suit their needs for the last number of months, and particularly welcomes the shift to a case-by-case assessment of people without a local connection who need emergency accommodation. We would love to see a further drop in numbers by the next count.
Nobody should have to sleep rough. Sleeping in a tent or sleeping bag is not safe and it is imperative that the HSE and Local Authorities continue to work together to put the appropriate mental health supports and accommodation options in place to cater to clients’ individual complex needs. Our team will continue to work assessing people’s needs, advocating for them and placing them in accommodation from where they can access a permanent home.
