Music To Dublin’s Ears – Dublin Simon Bringing Christmas Cheer to the Capital’s Streets with Popular Music Events
Carolathon & the Dublin Simon Christmas Eve Busk set to bring festive cheer to Dublin’s Streets
Dublin, 15th December 2023: Dublin Simon Community is bringing music to the capital’s streets again this Christmas with a range of festive musical events sure to lift shoppers’ spirits and raise essential funds for people experiencing homelessness.
First up is the ever-popular Carolathon event, which is back on Grafton Street today (Friday 15th) and tomorrow, Saturday 16th December. A range of well-known choirs, including the Lucan gospel choir, Pitch Perfect, the Trinity Belles and the Amici Vocal Ensemble will be performing. Choirs and singing groups will perform from 11am-8pm each day near the top of Grafton Street.
The public can donate at the event using cash or via contactless options on tap-to-donate machines, or via mobile phone using QR codes.
The Dublin Simon Christmas Eve Busk is now a bona fide Christmas Eve tradition, where well-known artists gather to perform together to raise funds for people who are homeless. You never know who might show up on stage at the Dublin Simon Busk – at previous events the audience has enjoyed performances by global and local superstars alike, including Glen Hansard, Imelda May, Bono, Dermot Kennedy, Hozier and Gavin James. Full details of the event time and location will be released on Christmas Eve.
Thanks to the success of our streamed Busk events during the pandemic we continue to offer the option to join the busk virtually – details of how to access the stream will be available in advance the Dublin Simon Community website at dubsimon.ie and on social media.
This year Dublin Simon urgently needs funds more than ever as the number of people in emergency accommodation and sleeping rough around Dublin continues to rise. While the artists entertain the public, our frontline teams will be working hard to support people who are homeless at Christmas time. Our Outreach and Supported Housing teams work 365 days a year delivering services to the vulnerable homeless population. Artists performing at the busk have requested that people attending, or enjoying it at home through the stream, make a donation to Dublin Simon to support this essential frontline work.
